Finding the value of Pi
Project Details
- Using a full size poster board, cut out the largest circle possible.
- Find 5 different sized circular objects in your house. For each one, use a piece of string to carefully measure the circumference and the diameter.
- For each object, divide the Circumference by the Diameter. The resulting number is π.
- Either attach the five objects to the poster board, or draw them exactly to size and attach the drawings to the poster board.
- Label the diameter and circumference of each.
- Label the value you calculated of π for each.
- Average the five values of π (add them together and divide by 5) and put your averaged valued of π in the center of the board.
